Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions people ask most about PayPlea.
- Last reviewed:
What is PayPlea?
PayPlea is an adults-only mobile community for person-to-person help. You discover moderated requests, choose how to help through the recipient’s own external payment link, and follow transparent progress.
Is PayPlea available on iPhone and Android?
PayPlea is designed for iPhone and Android. It is currently pre-launch, iOS first, and not yet published in app stores. Join early access to hear when you can try it.
Is PayPlea free?
Yes. Using PayPlea is free. Optional one-time in-app purchases support development but unlock no features.
Does PayPlea hold or transfer money?
No. PayPlea never holds, pools, routes or withdraws recipient money. Transfers happen in the independent provider’s app or website.
Is PayPlea a crowdfunding platform?
Not in the traditional sense. There is no platform-held fund. Helpers pay recipients directly. See direct help vs crowdfunding.
Can I help someone directly?
Yes. That is the point of PayPlea. Read for helpers.
Can I ask for help with household or electricity bills?
Yes, as long as the request is truthful, you are 18+, you have a compatible payment link and the request passes moderation. See ask for help.
Which payment providers can appear?
PayPal, Revolut, Cash App and Venmo, only where the recipient has configured them. Availability varies by country and account. PayPlea is not affiliated with them.
Why do I return and upload a receipt?
So that progress reflects reviewed contributions rather than unverifiable claims. The receipt stays private.
What is pending review?
A declared amount that has not been reviewed yet. It is shown separately in amber with a clock icon and is not counted as confirmed.
Who confirms an amount?
Review — automated assessment plus human administrative review where needed. The request owner cannot approve amounts unilaterally.
Can I hide details on a receipt?
Yes. The app lets you crop and conceal private details before upload. See protecting details on receipts.
Are requests guaranteed to be genuine?
No. Requests are moderated, but review cannot prove every statement. Use the red flags and only send what you are comfortable giving.
Is support tax-deductible?
No. PayPlea is not a charity and does not represent help or support purchases as tax-deductible.
Can I report a request, comment or profile?
Yes, from each item’s menu in the app. For suspected illegal content you can also submit a notice.
Can I block another person?
Yes. Blocking stops that member from interacting with you.
What information is public?
Display name, profile photo, country, public biography, requests, stories, goals, aggregate progress, comments and badges.
What information remains private?
Legal and contact details, identity and request documents, receipts, verification material, individual declarations and private conversations — except where disclosure is required for security, support, moderation or law.
Is PayPlea for minors?
No. PayPlea is only for people aged 18 or older.
What do achievements mean?
They recognise participation. They are not identity verification and do not affect ranking or moderation. See achievements.
How can I support PayPlea itself?
Through optional in-app support purchases once the app is live, or by contacting us about sponsorship.
How can a sponsor, journalist or creator contact PayPlea?
Use the form on sponsors and press or the contact page.
